Silver Dollar Casinos present Miss Rock again in 2004
SEATTLE, Wash. — Miss Rock lives again for another year, thanks to Silver Dollar Casinos and Seattle radio station KISW-FM.
One of the most famous boats in the history of unlimited hydroplane racing, the Miss Rock, made a comeback last year with Dr. Ken Muscatel’s U-25 hydroplane after an eight year absence from the sport. Silver Dollar Casinos, which has been a title sponsor of Muscatel’s team since 2001, presented the Miss Rock in Tri-Cities and Seattle.
For 15 years, the Miss Rock was a part of hydroplane racing lore with its wacky marketing ploys which drew enormous attention to the sport and the station. Last year, in her return, the Miss Rock lived up to that reputation.
“It’s great to be a part of the Miss Rock tradition as we continue to build our own legacy in hydroplane racing,” said Silver Dollar Casinos Marketing Director Nik Buckmaster. “Superior Racing Team is a group of racers who are dedicated to the sport and work hard to achieve the best results possible. We’re proud to be affiliated with them.”
In 2003, the U-25 hydroplane finished ninth in the O’Doul’s Championship standings with 326 points. It was the team’s most points since HydroProp took over operation of the unlimited hydroplane series, and it tied the best finish in boat standings.
The U-25 hydroplane is the centerpiece of Superior Racing Team, which is based in Seattle and has been together since 1993.
