About Us

Nelson Holmberg, head honcho
Nelson Holmberg
President

Nelson Holmberg started his own business in 2003 with the goal of serving other small businesses, and those without huge communication budgets, in mind. His knowledge of the communication tools defined his idea for a small business that would provide vital communication services to companies seeking a single-firm answer to their communication challenges.

Using his vast experience in public relations, marketing, media relations, graphic design, event planning, and public speaking, Nelson has the ability to construct excellent communication plans that will give NCS clients a great opportunity to achieve their goals. He is responsible for the development of custom-designed packages and programs. He also assists in building and improving relationships with media and target audiences at the local and state levels.

Included in the work he has done as a freelancer is a stint as auxiliary tribune manager (Phoenix, Ariz.) and assistant venue press chief (Scottsdale, Ariz.) during the first round of the inaugural World Baseball Classic, an international tournament that included multiple Major League Baseball players representing their home countries. Nelson finished his work with the World Baseball Classic as main tribune manager during the championship round at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif.

Nelson’s background combines communication, graphic design and proven project and event management, and promotion skills. Before starting Noslen Communication, he worked in the communication department at Northwest Public Power Association.

Prior to joining NWPPA, he was director of media and public relations/assistant general manager for the Portland Power women’s professional basketball team, and before that director of media services for the Atlanta Glory. He also has served stints in the communication offices at the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, the Pacific-10 Conference, and Washington State University. He also spent five years as a newspaper reporter at The Oregonian and The Columbian. He is available as a conference speaker on media relations training, and media in society issues.

Nelson is a 1995 graduate of Washington State University’s prestigious Edward R. Murrow School of Communication.
